Course Registration

Registration is the mechanical process that reserves seats in particular classes. Before students may attend classes, they must register according to the procedure detailed in this section. By registering for courses, students have a financial responsibility. Registration mistakes can be costly in terms of anxiety, time, and money. For this reason, students should take particular care to make sure that their registration information is entered accurately in Student Services Online (SSOL).

Enrollment is the completion of the registration process. It affords the full rights and privileges of student status and is accomplished by the payment or other satisfaction of tuition and fees.

Registration Requirements

Each of the following requirements must be satisfied in order for students to register for courses.

Apply and be admitted to the School of Professional Studies
All students who register for classes in the School of Professional Studies must first apply and be admitted to one of the School of Professional Studies' programs.

Activate Your Columbia UNI and Email Account
Students register for courses online using Student Services Online (SSOL). In order to access SSOL students must activate their Columbia UNI and e-mail account.

Submit Health Immunization Requirements
Students need to provide Health Services with information about their immunizations. There are two immunization requirements that students must meet before registering for the first time: their immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella, and their meningococcal meningitis vaccination decision. See Immunization Requirements for more information.

Clear Outstanding Holds
Students need to clear any outstanding holds in order to register for classes. Students may check SSOL in advance of registration to ensure they do not have any outstanding holds.
