Supported by the Office of Student Life, SPS offers a vibrant community of student clubs and organizations. SPS Engage is the primary resource for learning about SPS Student Organizations and to RSVP for all upcoming SPS events. Be sure to bookmark this website and visit it often!
The Senate is a University-wide legislature, representing faculty, students, and other constituencies. It makes policy on a range of issues that affect the entire University or more than one school, including educational programs and priorities, the budget, academic freedom and tenure, the conduct of research, the libraries, information technology, Columbia's external relations, student sexual misconduct, rules governing political demonstrations, and the welfare of faculty, students, and research officers. Trustee concurrence is required for acts of the Senate.
The SPS Student Senator represents all SPS students to this University-wide body and should be contacted directly with any questions or concerns facing SPS.
It is University policy that any organizations that use the Columbia name or are affiliated, must first receive authorization from the University before they can begin functioning. It is important to follow the proper procedures and policies as an unrecognized student organization can result in disciplinary action from Student Conduct. This may include, but is not limited to, violations of the ’Failure to Comply’ or ’Falsification’ policies.
