Fall Update

At SPS this fall, all courses, other than pre-established online courses, will be offered face-to-face in our New York City classrooms. Some of these face-to-face courses will be offered in the HyFlex format to ensure that all of our students can make progress toward their degree requirements, if faced with delays due to student visas or vaccination effectiveness wait times.

SPS Faculty & Administrators: Ways to Engage with Career Design Lab

Support us in providing the best service to our students and alumni. The Career Design Lab (CDL) actively engages with SPS faculty and administrators to provide students and alumni with meaningful and impactful experiential education, professional development, and recruitment & networking opportunities.

Faculty/Staff Open Houses

CDL offers Open Houses for faculty and staff once a semester to share the latest news of upcoming events and resources available to the SPS community. To find those dates and register, please download the SPS Faculty & Administrators Tools, which is updated at the beginning of every fall semester.

Post an Employment Opportunity

SPS Faculty and Administrators can create employer accounts in SPS Talent and recruit our SPS students and alumni. You can post jobs, collect resumes, and view candidates all on the same platform. Our students pursue opportunities ranging from entry-level roles to executive positions.

Encourage those within your professional networks to post opportunities on  SPS Talent by sharing the link.

Help Students/Alumni Claim Their SPS Talent Accounts

SPS Talent is the place where students and alumni can search for jobs, register for recruiting events, schedule career coaching sessions, and share their career outcomes.

Help promote this valuable career platform by sharing this step-by-step guide on How to Claim Your SPS Talent Account” to your students.

Great Events for Students/Alumni

CDL hosts an average of 100 events in an academic year. Please share the CDL Calendar of Events with your students and alumni.

Alumni Interested in Volunteering or Hiring?

If you know alumni interested in volunteering their time and expertise or are in positions to hire students, please make them aware of the following options:

  • Post Jobs: Alumni can create employer accounts and post opportunities directly on SPS Talent.
  • Mentor! We look for established alumni to serve as e-Mentors, Business Coaches and Judges for the Greater Good Challenge and other competitions. Faculty/Staff should forward their recommendations to careerdesignlab [[at]] columbia [[dot]] edu () before notifying alumni volunteers.
  • Global Alumni Regional Chairs: CDL is building SPS Global Alumni Hubs in Canada, China, India, Latin America, and Europe. Regional chairs help secure employers for Global Career Fairs and expand alumni volunteer networks. If you have recommendations, please forward their names to careerdesignlab [[at]] columbia [[dot]] edu. Regional chairs serve for one academic year and we recruit new members between June and August every year.
  • Alumni Career Outcomes: It’s critical that we collect the best data possible on what our alumni are doing after earning their degrees. Help increase our survey rate by having graduates fill out the Career Outcomes Survey via SPS Talent. Past alumni career outcomes reports can be found here
