Orientation is designed to foster academic and professional success while at the School of Professional Studies. At orientation, you will be able to meet and network with other SPS students, faculty, and staff who will support your transition to graduate studies. All students are expected to attend.

SPS New Student Orientation Checklist
The SPS Office of Admissions provides a comprehensive list of "to-do's" to ensure a smooth transition into Columbia University.
In order to protect the campus community, the University has mandated all incoming students must adhere to the following COVID-19 protocols and guidelines:
Get Vaccinated and Upload Documentation Get vaccinated and get a booster dose using the New York Vaccine Finder. Booster dosing is encouraged for all faculty, staff, and students who meet eligibility criteria. Your vaccination documentation must be submitted to ensure there is no delay in processing your information. If you are requesting a medical or religious exemption, those must also be submitted to ensure the appropriate time to review and evaluate.

Additionally, please check the University’s COVID-19 website regularly for updates before the semester begins.
You must have a Columbia ID (CUID) card to access all Columbia buildings and resources, make purchases at campus cafes and the University Bookstore, and to take advantage of student discount programs.
All students must upload a valid ID photo by Friday, August 11, 2023 as Student IDs cannot be printed without an approved photo.
