Engage in an interactive session with cross-disciplinary facilitators on various strategies students have successfully implemented into their graduate studies. Participants in the session will develop an understanding of important skills and habits to incorporate into their studies as they embark on their graduate school journeys. There will be an opportunity to engage with the presenters and other students throughout the session.

It will also provide information to help you make informed decisions about your financial planning.
Getting to Know the Career Design Lab

In this session, you will learn about the variety of programs, resources, and opportunities for you to develop the professional skills and competencies needed to succeed at Columbia and beyond. This session is designed to provide international students with the tools to understand their immigration privileges and responsibilities upon arriving in the US, how to keep in status and protect their F student and J exchange visitor non-immigrant status to ensure eligibility for future benefits. In addition, facilitators will discuss important policies, documentation, and information that international students should consider while partaking in studies at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies.

Navigating Unconscious Bias In and Out of the Classroom

This session is designed to make students aware of their socialization and the socialization of others and how this plays a part in developing implicit biases. Through an engaging and interactive session, students will gain an understanding of implicit and explicit bias, discuss where bias can arise in the classroom, and develop strategies on how you can mitigate bias in your interactions with others.

This session can provide you with a multitude of resources to complement your academic endeavors. Interlibrary loan, research databases and general reference information resources will be discussed.
Facilitated by the Office of Student Wellness
This session will help graduate students reflect on the ways they can care for themselves and others here at Columbia University. Through an engaging and interactive session, students will learn the importance of balance for success while understanding the variety of wellness resources available through the University. Students will be encouraged to be courageous in acknowledging vulnerability and knowing when to reach out for help.
What are pronouns? Understanding and Using gender-inclusive language at Columbia University
This workshop will be an opportunity for participants to understand gender and sexuality, learn about pronouns, and how we can all take part in building a more gender-inclusive Columbia.
This session is designed to help students become more familiar with Zoom and provide an overview of all the functionalities it has to offer. The facilitators will teach tips and tricks to maximize the app in the classroom and for group projects as you embark on your journey at the School of Professional Studies.
