Listen to a cross-disciplinary panel of SPS faculty discuss best practices as it relates to graduate student success. Hear directly from faculty what are the most important skills to refine and build upon during your graduate education. There will be a Q&A session during this workshop.

Financing Your Graduate Degree

This session provides an overview of Columbia University's policies and funding structures as well as different financial resources that are available to you over your course of study. It will also provide information to help you make informed decisions about your financial planning.

You will hear from the Career Design Lab team who will share how you may build clarity, confidence and connections as you consider a diverse range of career options.

Thriving in Graduate School: Caring for Yourself and Others

Facilitated by the Office of Student Enrichment and the Office of Student Support

This session will help graduate students reflect on the ways they can care for themselves and others here at Columbia University. Through an engaging and interactive session, students will learn the importance of balance for success while understanding the variety of wellness resources available through the University. Students will be encouraged to be courageous in acknowledging vulnerability and knowing when to reach out for help.

Navigating Unconscious Bias In and Out of the Classroom 

Facilitated by the Office of Student Support, the Office of Student Life and the Office of Faculty Affairs

This session is designed to make students aware of their socialization and the socialization of others and how this plays a part in developing implicit biases. Through an engaging and interactive session, students will gain an understanding of implicit and explicit bias, discuss where bias can arise in the classroom and develop strategies on how you can mitigate bias in your interactions with others.

Overview of the International Students and Scholars Office 

Facilitated by the International Students and Scholars Office

This session is designed to provide international students with a thorough overview of the office’s support services for international students. In addition, facilitators will discuss important policies, documentation and information that international students should consider while partaking in studies at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies.

How to Zoom: Tips and Tricks to Maximize Functionality

This session is designed to help students become more familiar with Zoom and provide an overview of all the functionalities it has to offer. The facilitators will teach tips and tricks to maximize the app in the classroom and for group projects as you embark on your journey at the School of Professional Studies.
