Meet the 2026 Student Marshals

Each year, Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS) selects one exceptional graduate from each master’s program to serve as a student marshal at commencement. Nominated by program leadership, these students are recognized for their outstanding academic performance, leadership, and contributions to the SPS community. During the graduation ceremony, the marshals proudly lead their fellow graduates and carry their program banners as representatives of their cohorts.

“Serving as a student marshal is a tremendous honor,” says Associate Director of Student Life Dr. Melissa Mayard Wilson. “These students have made lasting contributions both inside and outside the classroom, and it’s always inspiring to learn more about their experiences and achievements during their time at SPS.”

Here’s what this year’s student marshals shared about their academic experiences, their advice to incoming students, and the most valuable lessons they learned at SPS.
