Greg Witkowski to Lead New Book Series for Nonprofit Scholars and Practitioners

Greg Witkowski, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Nonprofit Management, will serve as the editor of a new series of books to be published by Georgetown University Press, starting in Fall 2022.

The Georgetown Studies in Philanthropy, Nonprofit, and Nongovernmental Organizations Series emphasizes critical approaches to understanding formal/informal giving and institutions engaged in the social economy domestically and internationally. The series brings to light the multiple tools to advance visions of the social good and, using a critical lens, recognizes the racial and social inequality built into our sector. The series understands how cultural traditions continue to affect us even as new technologies disrupt our practices and shape our work. These books advance knowledge and improve practice with both scholars and practitioners as the intended audience. Dr. Witkowski will serve as the series editor.

"I am excited to be working with Hilary Claggett at Georgetown University Press and this amazing editorial board,” said Dr. Witkowski. "Many of the ideas that this new series covers require an in-depth look--longer than an essay--to develop and explore in full. My aim is to provide thought-provoking resources for scholars, professionals, and policy makers to turn to as we map out the next few decades of nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations’ engagement with creating social good."

“One of my hopes for the series is to publish works that cross boundaries and engage with a broad audience, whether those boundaries be national, functional, disciplinary, or sectoral,” said Georgetown University Press Senior Acquisitions Editor in Global Business Hilary Claggett. “This series draws on the wealth of experience of its diverse and international Editorial Board, and is a superb fit with the goals of the Global Business publishing program. I'm excited and honored to be working with Greg Witkowski to facilitate the results.”

In addition to serving as full-time faculty in the Nonprofit Management program, Dr. Witkowski is affiliate faculty at the National Center on Disaster Preparedness. His publications have focused on either localized or transnational giving in the United States and Germany. He has written for both academic and practitioner communities. He was selected as a Fulbright Scholar and a Young Leader by the American Swiss Foundation.

Georgetown University Press publishes approximately forty new books per year, as well as two journals, with an active list of almost 1,000 titles. These publications primarily service a global audience of higher education teachers and students and the scholarly community, and many also reach the general reading public. Our content and our pedagogy help to unite people across different cultures speaking different languages and illuminates, clarifies, and responds to some of the world's most difficult questions and challenges. These works, written by an international group of authors representing a broad range of intellectual perspectives, focus on international affairs, languages & linguistics, religion & ethics, global business and the global economy, and topics related to the Washington, DC, region.
