Filipe Delvaux: Columbia is Developing the Next Generation of Wealth Management Leaders

Filipe Delvaux is a finance professional whose career spans top firms including Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and Bank of America. He is currently a VP, Financial Consultant at Charles Schwab. He discusses his experience as a member of the inaugural cohort of Columbia's Wealth Management program.

Tell us about your career and what kind of impact you would like to make.

I'm a native of Brazil and grew up in a military family. We moved to a different city every couple of years. It was an eye-opening adventure that enabled me to experience some of the most beautiful places in South America while witnessing some of the most disturbing inequalities in our world. As a result, I developed a keen sense of curiosity for the story of capital; why do some thrive while others starve?

My interest in this subject led me to the financial industry. I started my career at Goldman Sachs, then went to work for J.P. Morgan and Bank of America, and, most recently, as a Financial Consultant for Charles Schwab in Colorado's beautiful Summit County.

As I plan and look to the future, my goal is to provide the most value to my clients and gain the best education to help my community and country.

What drew you to Columbia's Wealth Management program?

My search for CFP board-approved coursework was how I found out about Columbia's Wealth Management program. Once I read through the curriculum, I was certain that this degree would be the preeminent academic program to develop the next generation of wealth management leaders. I could not have imagined the level of insight, topical relevance, and cutting-edge perspective brought by Columbia's extraordinary faculty. The program brings the industry's best minds to address current issues while anticipating its evolution and ultimate direction.

My goal is to provide the most value to my clients and gain the best education to help my community and country.

— Filipe Delvaux, '22SPS, Wealth Management
