Chairman and Founder of Sunrise Bluff Capital Group Dr. Steven Koura Advises HCM Capstone Students

Dr. Steven Koura, Chairman and Founder of Sunrise Bluff Capital Group, a private equity firm focused on the acquisition of growth stage healthcare, technology, and biotechnology assets, visited Dr. Spike Rivera and Laura Dannels' capstone class to coach students on their capstone presentations.

Dr. Koura provided the HCM students with real-life feedback from the point of view of a business executive. He emphasized the importance of HCM professionals connecting to the business strategy and being able to communicate return on investment. Thank you, Dr. Koura, for providing these invaluable insights to our HCM students as they prepare for graduation.  

Since inception, Sunrise Bluff Capital Group has acquired a majority stake in 11 portfolio firms, successfully exiting 6, for over $1.4B in enterprise value. Dr. Koura is also the Chairman of Intelemed (a telemedicine firm focused on remote patient monitoring) Abgent (a biotech firm focused on adjunct therapies for cancer treatment), Horizon River Technologies (a technology and cybersecurity firm focused on global multi-tenant businesses), and N2 Ventures (a venture fund focused on harvesting academic institutional IP in healthcare). Prior to founding Sunrise Bluff Capital Group, Dr. Koura worked for Goldman Sachs in the Investment banking group, Boston Consulting Group and as a strategy consultant, and Hewlett- Packard as the executive responsible for global corporate development. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelors and Master's in Neuroscience from the Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. He also received his MD from the Emory University School of Medicine and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
