The Psychology of Philanthropy: Getting Inside Your Donor’s Head
In this intensive and engaging Master Class, Dr. Sargeant shared his work in the emerging science of philanthropic psychology. He introduced some of the new learning emerging from social psychology and how this may be applied to build more meaningful donor relationships. With donor loyalty and retention at an all-time low in the charitable sector, this Master Class illustrates how delving into the mindset of the donor increases effectiveness and retention in donor relations.
An internationally recognized scholar in fundraising and charitable solicitation, Professor Adrian Sargeant is Professor of Fundraising at Plymouth University and the Director of the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy. Formerly the Hartsook Chair in Fundraising at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, Dr. Sargeant also holds visiting appointments at Avila University and the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Non-profit Studies, Queensland University of Technology. He has received many awards for his services to the profession, notably being named to the prestigious Non-profit Times Power and Influence List in the United States in 2010.
