The demand for wealth advisors is greater than ever before. Columbia University’s Master of Professional Studies in Wealth Management, set to launch in fall 2020, will train students to become wealth advisors who work with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and endowments to develop wealth and investment management strategies.

20% of current wealth managers are near retirement, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects demand for the career will increase 30% by 2024. In fact, the Bureau projects that job growth for wealth managers is expected to grow 4 times higher than other occupations. Columbia University’s Wealth Management Master’s Program is designed to meet these market needs by providing students with the foundation needed to pursue a career in wealth management and obtain Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification.

Students will

  • Prepare for career acceleration by creating a cohesive business plan under faculty supervision
  • Understand and apply evolving technology in the wealth management field
  • Understand and respond to the demands of a changing industry and evolving regulatory measures
  • Engage in coursework aligned with the skills needed to pass the CFP® exam
  • As a part of the program students will complete the Securities Industry Essentials Exam
