Wealth Management Residency Welcomes Students from Across the Globe

Columbia University’s Master's in Wealth Management program has just welcomed its fifth cohort, kicking off an exciting journey where students from across the country—and the globe—come together to master core financial planning, explore new technologies, and embrace a holistic approach to wealth management. With a curriculum designed to reflect real-world dynamics, students engage in collaborative assignments and discussions that mirror professional wealth management advisory teams.

This 16-month, online asynchronous program is framed by two in-person residencies at Columbia's campus, offering invaluable face-to-face connections with peers, faculty, and alumni. The first residency acts as a launchpad, orienting students to the online format, fostering team-building, and introducing Columbia’s extensive resources. The second residency sees students presenting their Capstone and Disruptive Trends projects, while engaging in professional development, networking, and social activities.

“Success in the program hinges on not only individual effort but also the ability to connect, collaborate, and learn from peers,” said M.P.S. in Wealth Management Senior Program Director Tracy Schwartz. “The bonds formed early on provide a support network, helping students tackle the curriculum and work together on projects inspired by real-world wealth management challenges.”

With a diverse cohort—from seasoned professionals to career changers—the program offers a dynamic learning environment, preparing students for the evolving demands of wealth management. Building relationships, even in an online setting, strengthens both industry knowledge and personal connections that last far beyond graduation. “The value of our program lies in the community that forms as students pursue their professional goals,” said Schwartz. “It truly is the investment of a lifetime!”
