NECR Summer 2025 Capstone Presentations Showcase Global Perspectives

This summer, 13 students in the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program successfully completed their capstone theses and presentations. The capstone is a rigorous, three-semester process involving in-depth research, the application of conflict resolution frameworks, and a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and the critical principle of "do no harm."

The topics explored ranged widely—from Peruvian cartels and conflicts in coastal Somalia to the 2019 Chicago Teachers Strike and the rise of the WeWork lawsuit.

Below, we invite you to view a selection of the virtual presentations from the Summer 2025 cohort. Future capstone presentations are open to the public and are held at the end of each fall, spring, and summer semester.

  • Treven Treece (‘25SPS, NECR)
Kakataibo & Cocaine Cartels: The Fight for Stability in the Rural Peruvian Amazon
  • Francesca Antonone (‘25SPS, NECR)

About the Program

Columbia University’s Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution prepares students to analyze the root causes and dynamics of conflict and to transform disputes through reasoned and resourceful interventions. The program focuses on developing self-awareness, tenacity, and interpersonal competency; building common ground; opening lines of communication; ensuring representation and recognition, and building sustainable possibilities for resolution.

The program has on-campus and online (with residency) modality options. The spring 2026 application deadline for the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution online program is November 1. Learn more about the program here
