Admissions

Review the Sports Management program qualifications below, and learn more about the application process, deadlines, and requirements.

As admissions to our programs are highly competitive, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Degree Program Qualifications

  • U.S. bachelor’s degree or international equivalent.
If your post-secondary credentials are from an institution outside the United States, the Office of Admissions requires you to submit all post-secondary credentials (undergraduate and graduate) to World Education Services, Inc. (WES), a third-party verification agency for a course-by-course evaluation for admission consideration. The Office of Admissions will use the credential evaluation provided by WES to determine if your undergraduate degree is the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree.
  • Students must be comfortable with rapid and idiomatic spoken English.
If your first and native language* is not English, you must provide official scores on the TOEFL or IELTS regardless of the language of instruction used at your undergraduate degree conferring institution.

*Your first and native language is the language that you learned first or speak best.

Applicants who attended both high school and undergraduate studies at institutions where the language of instruction was English may qualify for a waiver for this requirement. Waiver requests should be emailed to sports [[at]] sps [[dot]] columbia [[dot]] edu (sports[at]sps[dot]columbia[dot]edu) with the subject line “English Proficiency Waiver Request”, and include both unofficial undergraduate and high school transcripts and an updated resume.

Do not submit your application until you have received a decision on your English Proficiency Waiver.

Please note, this does not guarantee this requirement will be waived.
