Required Courses

IKNS Required Courses

Grounded in the discipline of Knowledge Management, our inter-disciplinary curriculum equips you with theoretical foundations in information science, organizational psychology, and change management as well as practical skills in project management and executive leadership to dramatically increase your impact – whether in your current organization or for a career pivot.

The 6 required courses are designed to provide a holistic and interdisciplinary experience, covering the full spectrum of enterprise-wide knowledge strategy, from business analytics and Artificial Intelligence, collaboration and team/project management, to digital transformation and change management.

Course sequence for required courses

  • The Foundations course, offered in the fall, is required for all incoming students in their first semester
  • The Capstone course, also offered in the fall, may be taken once you have earned 18 or more credits towards your degree (where at least 12 of the 18 credits must be earned in required courses). Example: If a parttime student takes 2 required courses in their first fall (6 credits), and another 2 required courses in their first spring (6 more credits), then they must complete an additional 6 elective credits over the summer (typically 2 courses) in order to qualify for taking the Capstone course as early as their 2nd fall. This rule ensures that students have learned enough of the IKNS content, particularly in the required courses, to then apply what they have learned to their Capstone project
  • The four other required courses can be taken in a sequence of your choosing. Required courses are offered in the fall or spring term only (whereas elective courses can be taken in the fall, spring, or summer term)
