ERM Faculty Members Sim Segal and Rich Lauria Present at RIMS

On 11/4, Enterprise Risk Management Academic Director and Senior Lecturer in Discipline Sim Segal and Associate Director and Lecturer in Discipline Rich Lauria spoke at RIMS ERM, a virtual conference hosted by the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. Columbia's Enterprise Risk Management program was also a platinum sponsor of the event.

The conference included keynotes from GEC Risk Advisory and James Lam & Associates, as well as panels led by Airbnb, Estee Lauder, Microsoft, PVH Corp., Columbia and other organizations. Segal and Lauria's panel, "Building Buy-In: Overcoming the #1 Obstacle to Effective ERM," introduced tools and techniques that have been used to successfully build buy-in for an effective ERM framework and risk governance, as well as throughout various stages of the ERM process cycle, including identification, quantification, decision making, and messaging. The speakers led the conference through a case study to showcase how these techniques advanced one ERM program while building key allies throughout an organization and improving the risk culture.
