Sim Segal is the founder of Columbia’s M.S. in Enterprise Risk Management program, the #1 such program globally, where he serves as program director and senior lecturer-in-discipline. He also serves on the SPS Executive Committee.

Sim Segal is president and founder of SimErgy, a consulting firm specializing in enterprise risk management (ERM). Segal is a globally-recognized ERM thought leader, primarily for his pioneering value-based ERM approach, which has influenced industry and regulatory practices.

Segal is author of Corporate Value of Enterprise Risk Management (Wiley, March 2011), which has been adopted as required reading on the syllabi of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and leading universities in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, China, Italy, Croatia, and Egypt.

Segal has authored numerous articles in publications such as Forbes, American Banker, and Corporate Finance Review. He has been quoted as an ERM expert in publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Global Finance.

Segal has also played a leadership role in the actuarial profession, formerly serving in roles such as: vice president, SOA Board of Directors (2009-2011); inaugural chair of SOA Risk Committee (2009-2011); chief editor of Risk Management magazine (2008–2009); and a lead actuary in Actuarial Foundation’s Advancing Student Achievement Program (2004-2006).

Segal is a Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).
