Strategic Communication Lecturer Gabriel Amor Publishes Two Works of Literature

Poliedro, an Argentine scholarly journal housed at the University of San Isidro (USI), has released a chapter from ¿Cuando será ese día?, a novel-in-process written by Gabriel Amor, Lecturer in Columbia’s M.S in Strategic Communication. The novel is written in Spanish and Galician, and Amor is currently working on self-translating it to English as The Wait is Over. The title is available through Open Access on Poliedro.

Amor’s translation of selected poems by Mariela Dreyfus, Peruvian poet and translator, also appeared in the No. 102 Issue of Review: Literature and Arts of the Americas. (Routledge Taylor & Francis Group in association with Classical and Modern Languages & Literatures at The City College of New York.) Amor has long been an advocate of literary translation and is passionate about bringing Spanish-language literature to American readers.

Born in Galicia, Spain, Amor has lived in New York since the age of five. He has published translations of poetry and prose by numerous Latin American writers, and received a 2016 PEN/Heim Translation Fund grant for his work on JUANA I. Gabriel has collaborated with other artists on multimedia performances and was a producer on the Emmy-nominated documentary The Woman Who Wasn't There. This fall semester, Amor is teaching Strategic Communication Management in Columbia's Master of Science in Strategic Communication program.
