Shahryar Shaghaghi, Lecturer in the Enterprise Risk Management program, and Chief Technology Officer at Quantum Xchange, recently published a paper, “Cross-Border Data Privacy and Security Concerns in the Dawn of Quantum Computing.”
The paper aligns ongoing data privacy laws and cross-border requirements with the quantum network security that Quantum Xchange offers. As the EU, in particular, develops new privacy regulations, companies might be required to change data transfer practices and adopt more advanced data encryption methods. “In recent years, costly breaches and evolving data security concerns have bubbled up to a board level agenda item,” Shaghaghi writes.
“The data management challenge for multinationals is extreme and fraught with risk. For existing infrastructure, the looming quantum threat coupled with data privacy and security regulations should force companies to reexamine their data transfer practices, quantum-proof their communications infrastructure, and incorporate quantum-enhanced encryption into their technology stack today.”
Current harvesting attacks are imposing significant risks for sensitive and persistent data across major enterprises and government agencies.
