End-of-Semester Message: Reasons to Celebrate

Dear SPS Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As the fall semester concludes, I am writing for two reasons. First, to extend my enthusiastic congratulations to our students who are finishing their coursework this month with an anticipated degree conferral in February. I am so proud of you all, and all the extraordinary things that you have accomplished during your time at SPS. I encourage you, as future alumni, to stay engaged with the School and your programs, and to continue to be a part of our rich community.

The second reason I am writing is to share some news with you about graduation. I am pleased to announce that the SPS Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 will be held in person on the South Lawn on Friday, May 12, 2023. Then on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the Columbia University Commencement ceremony of the 269th academic year will take place in person on Low Plaza at 10:30 a.m. EDT.

As we did last year, SPS will divide our celebration into two ceremonies: a morning ceremony at 10:00 a.m. EDT and an afternoon ceremony at 1:45 p.m. EDT.

Candidates for graduation will receive further information, including how to register and order regalia, from the Office of Student Life in the spring semester.

I do hope that in the coming weeks you will find time to relax, recharge, and spend time with friends. Again, congratulations to our new graduates, and warmest New Year’s wishes to all.

Sincerely,

Troy
