IKNS Seminar: What gets measured gets managed... but who manages what gets measured on climate?

Join Columbia University’s M.S. in Information & Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) program for a special seminar presentation by Columbia alum Betty Cremmins.

Climate disclosure has become nearly ubiquitous among the world’s largest companies and governments, creating thousands of jobs to calculate, manage and report environmental and climate data. As more stakeholders and policy makers look to make decisions based on this data, there is an increasing drive for standardization, automation, harmonization, accountability and compliance.  

But the data alone will not solve climate change – people from all job functions are critical to unlocking the learnings, innovations and opportunities that can rapidly decarbonize our systems and supply chains. Professionals from a variety of job functions working within all major institutions are taking the initiatives to transform their businesses, making the case for strategic investments, integrating expectations into purchasing contracts, setting benchmarks for regulatory compliance, and innovating new climate-resilient materials and systems. 

Climate change demands that we drive action at the speed commensurate with the challenges we are rapidly learning to quantify. Betty will share insights to ways that data-empowered professionals can ensure that we harness the innovation and collaboration sufficient to unlock solutions to entrenched problems that will ensure our planetary resilience. 

Join us on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 6:00 pm ET, either in person at Columbia’s Italian Academy or via live stream on Zoom. A networking reception for guests will follow the in-person presentation.

• Non-CUID holders: a government-issued ID and the QR code issued by CU Guest Access prior to the event. This QR code is valid only for this event and the name must match that on the guest’s government-issued ID.
