Because of changes due to covid-19, ALP students are not eligible to stay in Columbia Housing or Columbia Residential units. Please see below for a list of non-Columbia housing options.

Columbia Residential Units: Spring, Summer, Fall

ALP students are not eligible for Columbia Residential units at this time.

Columbia Housing Units: Summer only

Due to changes in campus operations, the University has made the difficult decision not to offer summer housing for ALP Summer 2020.

Off Campus Housing Assistance

A registry of off-campus accommodations, which may include apartments for rent, as well as private rooms for subletting, some of which are close to the Columbia campus. Generally, you will need your University Network ID (UNI) and password to access this online listing. Phone: 212-854-2773

Non-Columbia Housing Options

Many students choose to find their own accommodation in New York. It is important to be careful as you do this:

  • Take care to avoid dishonest businesses and scams (example: Airbnb rentals that ask for payment outside the Airbnb app)
  • Make sure you have a contract / lease with your landlord if you rent.
  • Most landlords in New York City require first month + security deposit, but do NOT require payment in advance for multiple months.
  • Know your rights as a tenant in the city:
