Associate Director, Recruitment and Admissions
Jennifer Fried serves as an Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. Drawing on a background as both artist and educator, Jennifer works with prospective students to navigate the admissions process, aligning them with programs designed to cultivate leadership, sharpen expertise, and drive meaningful professional transformation.
Prior to joining Columbia, Jennifer built a diverse career across the arts, education, and business. For two decades, Jennifer was a professional French horn player, performing in Chicago and Boston as a chamber musician and orchestral artist. Alongside performance, Jennifer was an educator and mentor to the next generation of musicians, recognized for creative approaches to teaching and leadership in collaborative settings.
Expanding into a new field, Jennifer distinguished herself in residential real estate sales, earning recognition for sales excellence through a combination of creativity, relationship-building, and client advocacy. Later, she served as Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of New Hampshire, where she advanced outreach and enrollment efforts with a strong emphasis on student engagement and access.
Jennifer has shared her passion for creativity and human connection, whether in performance, education, business, or higher education admissions. These experiences inform her work at Columbia SPS, where she brings both an artistic sensibility and strategic mindset to recruitment and admissions.
