Teaching Communication, Leadership and Conflict Resolution

Robert M. Anderson is a consultant and trainer with 30 years’ experience in the field of international human resources development. He is president of McDonald Anderson, a group of international professionals specializing in leadership and communication training based in New York City. His work has taken him to organizations in 30 countries. Drawing on the theory and methods of adult learning and conflict resolution, he designs and delivers active-learning workshops, adapting the content and approach of the workshops to the local contexts and learning styles.

He works frequently with the United Nations where he conducts workshops on cross-cultural communication, facilitation skills, and instructional design in New York and its field offices globally.

Before starting McDonald Anderson in 1989, Robert was a training manager at Salomon Brothers Inc. He continues to work closely with the financial industry conducting many communication and conflict-resolution workshops in New York and Tokyo.

Robert is a certified practitioner of The Human Element, a training methodology that emphasizes self-awareness and authenticity in personal and professional relationships.

In addition to teaching the Skills Practicum: Self as Instrument for NECR, he conducts the basic and advanced courses in negotiation and mediation at the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Teachers College. He is also an instructor in Teachers College’s Summer Principals Academy. He completed his Ed.D. in adult learning at Teachers College.

He is a community mediator certified by the IMCR in the Bronx.
