Deepthiman Gowda, MD, MPH, MS, is a general internist, Assistant Dean for Medical Education at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) and the Director of Clinical Practice for Columbia Narrative Medicine. He serves as the lead for Narrative Medicine at KPSOM and has been working to integrate Narrative Medicine methods across the 4 year curriculum and into the co-curricular culture of the School.
Dr. Gowda’s efforts have focused on care to underserved communities, clinical skills education, interprofessional education, and narrative medicine. He is a Macy Faculty Scholar and has conducted research on the impact of implementing Narrative Medicine activities into clinical settings and the use of visual art education to enhance reflective practice. He previously served for 8 years on the New York City Board of Health.
