Camryn Louder

Sustainability Science Program Representative

I am Camryn Louder, a Master's student earning a degree in Sustainability Science at the School of Professional Studies. I selected this program because I hope to contribute to the ecologically responsible allocation of Earth’s natural resources. I aspire to secure a position in environmental policy where I can advocate for sustainable consumption practices, influence the regulation of natural resources, and preserve them. My professional interests also include international and domestic environmental justice, particularly addressing the threat of climate change. I am hoping to further my passion for advocacy by representing Sustainability Science in the School of Professional Studies Student Government.

My academic and professional journey has been shaped by research and service. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Environmental Systems from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, which ingrained a strong foundation for my career path. While interning with the USDA Coastal Plains Soil and Water Conservation Research Center, I gained firsthand experience in public sector research. I saw the importance of advanced degrees and the development of sustainable practices. This work reinforced my desire to combine science and policy to disrupt environmental misuse and hold industries accountable. I also found my recent role as a Research Assistant at the Tree Ring Lab at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory enlightening. The Sustainability Science program has empowered me to implement my newfound knowledge. My ultimate goal is to intensify sustainable, justice-centered policies that safeguard natural resources and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities.
