Saljooq Asif, M.S.

Saljooq M. Asif is a Lecturer in the Program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. Borrowing from literature, film, and television, he seeks to integrate dramatized narratives in the pedagogy of healthcare providers. He has presented his scholarship on various topics, ranging from superhero theory to humanitarian discourse, at both national and international conferences. His work has appeared in U.S. Studies Online, Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine, Journal of Medical Humanities, Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies, Innovations in Global Health Professions Education, Literature and Medicine, and Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics.

Asif holds a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science from Boston College, where he was a member of the College of Arts & Sciences Honors Program and double majored in Biology and English. He is currently a first-year medical student at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.
