Richard C. Woollams, Jr.

Richard C. Woollams, Jr. is an expert in the management of commercial property and casualty insurance claims. With more than thirty years of professional experience in insurance, Woollams brings a creditworthy technical, administrative, process, and cultural perspective to commercial P&C insurance claims and disputes. 

Woollams is an independent consultant to P&C carriers regarding their commercial P&C claims operations and serves as an expert witness for P&C insurance and reinsurance disputes. He currently serves as an Outside Director on the Board of Directors of Yankee Farm Credit, a federal farm credit system cooperative bank serving Vermont, northwest New Hampshire and northeast New York. 

He spent 19 years at AIG, where he served as the President of Global Commercial Claims, President of the U.S. Claims organization, President of P&C Severity Claims for AIG’s Domestic Brokerage Group, and Senior Vice President of Excess Casualty Claims. Woollams’s AIG portfolio included the management of 3,400 claims professionals responsible for the $20 Billion in annual payout and $40 billion in reserves and operations for all of AIG’s U.S. and Domestic Brokerage Group’s P&C claims, including mass tort, pollution products, medical malpractice, excess casualty, excess workers compensation and commercial property claims.

Woollams started his insurance career at Travelers Insurance Company, where he began as a regional Liability Claims Representative and ultimately advanced to second Vice President for Strategic Claims at the company’s headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut. Before that, he practiced law for nearly a decade, specializing in wills and deeds, criminal cases, personal injury, domestic relations, bankruptcy, and contracts.
