Engaging Next-Generation Foundation Leaders

John Hicks, CFRE, who teaches Grant Writing and Fundraising Fundamentals for Nonprofits, explored how to best engage emerging grantmaking leaders at a time when we are in the midst of the most significant "changing of the guard" in the history of U.S. foundations. This Spring, he spoke at two webinars:  Grant Seeking: 2.0: Engaging Next Generation Foundation Board & Staff (for The Nonprofit Alliance) and Engaging Next Generation Leaders in Foundations (for Bloomerang). From initial contact through the submission of your proposal, to gaining attention and trust, and securing crucial grant support for your organization, Hicks provided several key takeaways. Participants learned how to communicate effectively with next-gen foundation leaders, adapt their grant writing to best get their message across to next-gen staff and board, and build and steward relationships through multi-channel communications. Hicks also included information on new grantmaking strategies next-gen leaders are employing and how charities should position their response for funding consideration.
