Robert Klitzman, Columbia's School of Professional Studies Bioethics Program Director, has had a busy week in the news.
First, his most recent book, The Ethics Police? The Struggle to Make Human Research Safe, was reviewed in IRB: Ethics and Human Research, where it "offers several useful suggestions for improving the IRB system."
Secondly, Klitzman is featured "Are Biases Hurting Your Health?" from the US News and World Report, where he has many suggestions on how to improve your health, from seeing a professional to prioritizing exercise.
Finally, the bioethicist is featured in The New York Times, responding to the recent article about the first genetic "three-parent" baby: "the unfortunate ban on research on this procedure in the United States stems not only from the label (“three-parent babies”), but also from fears of potential long-term adverse effects, and of opening a Pandora’s box of altering genes in embryos."
