Can Third-Party Mediation Solve Polarized Conflicts?
In a world that is changing too fast, conflicts have hit a level of polarization that seems like an impossible gulf to bridge. But according to Dr. Kenneth Kressel, who studies social conflict and teaches at Rutgers, these divisions provide an opportunity for third-party mediation to work as a useful method for resolution.
Dr. Beth Fisher-Yoshida, the program director for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia School of Professional Studies, interviewed Kressel on the AC4 Columbia podcast about "Decision Making and Styles of Mediators." As an expert in mediation, Kressel shared his research on how mediators succeed, and what styles produce results.
