Columbia to Career: How Alum Aditi Chadha Transformed Her Future with Applied Analytics

“The Applied Analytics program has significantly advanced my career,” says Aditi Chadha (’24SPS).

Aditi has over seven years of experience in pharmaceutical commercial strategies, particularly in omnichannel marketing and community activation, but she says Columbia’s Applied Analytics program deepened her understanding of data and its application to business needs considerably. Now, she is applying what she learned to her role as vice president of engagement strategy at Publicis CoLab, a fully integrated, cross-discipline agency that provides best-in-class services in a fluid and modular way. With clients at the center, it creates brand movement at the speed of people’s lives by connecting real-time data with world-class creative content and media.

We recently spoke to Aditi about how her experience in the program has impacted her career and contributed to her diverse portfolio of work.

Why did you choose Columbia’s Applied Analytics program?

Columbia’s Applied Analytics program combines both technical and management aspects. As someone with six years of professional experience, I was not looking for a career switch but rather a program that would strengthen my strategy skills while providing a deeper understanding of data. This unique blend is what made the program stand out to me.

How has the program influenced your career?

While I had previously driven innovative marketing programs and operational success leading to substantial revenue growth, the Applied Analytics program enhanced my data-driven decision-making skills. It enabled me to leverage data analytics and market research to design and execute data driven marketing strategies that resonate with diverse communities and disease states, a skill that is unique among marketing strategists.

Which course in the Applied Analytics program was your favorite?

My favorite courses were Healthcare Analytics and Strategy and Analytics. In those classes, we applied the technical aspects learned in the program to real-world case studies, developing data-driven strategic frameworks and recommendations. This practical application was one of my main reasons for pursuing an M.S. in Applied Analytics.

Who was your favorite instructor in the program, and what made them stand out?

David Kreutter was my favorite professor because his teaching style of engaging students through questions and interactive discussions helped me understand concepts deeply. He began each class with current news updates and included real-world examples as case studies. This approach made the learning process both relevant and engaging.

How has the network you built during the program benefited you professionally?

The network I developed with professors, TAs, and other students has greatly benefited my professional advancement. My professors had extensive work experience and readily offered advice on my resume and job search approach. They also connected me with relevant peers in their own networks. Additionally, the Columbia Alumni network significantly boosted my professional connections.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

My advice is to never give up. The program might seem tough, especially certain assignments and classes, but perseverance is key. If you keep going and give it your best, you will learn a lot. Looking back, you will realize how far you’ve come and feel proud of your achievements. For instance, I never thought I could develop my own app, but the program taught me the necessary skills, and I eventually did it for one of my classes.
