Join Columbia University’s Master of Professional Studies in Wealth Management program for an interactive discussion with wealth management industry expert Mark Tibergien and moderator Philipp Hecker, CEO of Bento Engine. Mark, formerly the CEO of Pershing, is a recognized global consultant, a book author, and the recipient of WealthManagement.com’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.

About the Panelists:
Mark Tibergien is a nationally recognized authority on management, strategy, and transition issues within the financial services industry. He has led organizations through every stage of the business lifecycle—from start-up to exit, rapid growth to turnaround. He has consulted with hundreds of financial services organizations across the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Canada.
He currently serves as Advisor in Residence for Ernst & Young’s Wealth & Asset Management Group; an independent director of Pathstone, a wealth management and multi-family office RIA; and as an advisory board member for Nesvold Capital, a merchant bank focused on the financial services industry. Most recently, he served on the Advisory Board of Commonwealth Financial Network, which merged into LPL Financial in 2025. In recognition of his lasting influence on the profession, Tibergien was honored in September 2024 with WealthManagement.com’s first Lifetime Achievement Award for his guidance, principles, and wisdom that have helped shape the industry.
Until May 2020, Tibergien was CEO of Pershing Advisor Solutions LLC, an affiliate of The Bank of New York Mellon, and a member of BNY/Pershing’s Executive Committee. Prior to Pershing, he was a Principal at Moss Adams LLP, where he led the Business Consulting Group, specializing in wealth management, and authored a long-running monthly column on management issues for Investment Advisor/Think Advisor. He is also the author of four influential books published by Bloomberg Press/Wiley & Sons: Practice Made Perfect, How to Value, Buy or Sell a Financial Advisory Practice, Practice (Made) More Perfect, and The Enduring Advisory Firm.
Phillipp Hecker is the Chief Executive Officer of Bento Engine, a FinTech at the intersection of technology and wealth management advice and a member of the Advisory Council for Columbia University's Wealth Management master's program. Prior to founding Bento Engine, Philipp spent 20 years focusing on defining and implementing growth strategies in the wealth and asset management industries at J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank and the Boston Consulting Group in New York. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Diploma from the University of Passau, Germany.
