VOLVOX: Making Narrative Medicine Happen Alumni Speaker Series

Connective Tissue: Crafting a Professional and Creative Identity

Renee Nicholson, MFA, CPA'19

Narrative medicine practitioners often find themselves using their skills in myriad ways, from research projects to clinical encounters to writing with others and for themselves. How do we manage those often porous borders and continue to participate in work that supports others as well as one’s own well-being? This talk will give examples and strategies for effectively connecting and nurturing the professional and creative self, by seeing the opportunities for both to flourish. From learning to carve out time for personal writing projects, to how to effectively collaborate with others on projects, it will show ways to balance priorities and to replenish the creative self.
