Online Information Session: M.S. and CPA in Narrative Medicine–Comparisons and Opportunities

Please join us for an information session about the Certificate of Professional Achievement and Master of Science in Narrative Medicine programs at Columbia University. The session is open to anyone interested in learning more about these opportunities, including those who are considering applying to one or the other, as well as current or former C.P.A. students who are interested in the M.S. program. We will discuss the similarities and differences between the two programs; possibilities for applying C.P.A. credits toward the M.S., and which program is right for you.

Panelists will include students who have experienced both programs, the two program directors, and an admissions counselor. Ample time will be provided to address your questions live. Can't make it? Contact an admissions counselor.

M.S. Degree: Full-Time or Part-Time | On-Campus | 8+ Months

In the 1970s, three-fourths of Americans reported having trust in medical professionals. Today, only about a quarter report confidence in the healthcare system, according to the New England Journal of Medicine. As medicine continues to advance, so does the need to listen to patients with narrative competency.

Columbia University’s Master of Science in Narrative Medicine prepares health professionals, writers, advocates, and scholars to apply the skills and values of narrative understanding to improve outcomes for both patients and caregivers, and to investigate issues pertinent to health and healthcare in a rigorous transdisciplinary setting. This flagship graduate program is the first of its kind, and is a worldwide leader. Graduates are poised to become educators and leaders in healthcare and beyond.

CPA: Part-Time | Online Asynchronous | Up to 3 Years

In addition to the full-time or part-time M.S., the program offers a Certification of Professional Achievement in Narrative Medicine.
