Lakshmi Ravindran

Student, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

Lakshmi Ravindran is a first-generation lawyer from India. She got her degree in law from Jindal Global Law School in 2020. Having spent her life shuffling between UAE and India, she has grown to enjoy the medley of cultures and is intrigued by how these differences shape human interaction.

She is passionate about women's and minorities' rights and has worked towards contributing to a more exclusive and positive work environment for people under-represented in corporate settings. After beginning her career as a legal consultant, she has been an external member of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee (POSH) for a company in India, as a part of which she helped organize seminars, workshops, and training programs to promote healthy and respectful workplace interaction.

As a lawyer, she developed a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution. During her time in Dubai as a legal consultant, she worked on negotiating and settling aviation accident claims, corporate commercial arbitrations, and trials. Her interest in learning holistic, multidisciplinary, and cooperative dispute resolution methods led her to the Master's in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program at the School of Professional Studies. Lakshmi also serves as the Email Marketing & Newsletter Officer of the student group Association for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (ANCoRS). She looks forward to learning from and learning with Columbia's talented and diverse community.
