Erin O'Connell
Assistant Director, Graduate Programs
As the Assistant Director of Graduate Programs at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS), Erin advances cross-disciplinary master’s programs through strategic planning, academic operations, and process optimization. She collaborates with program directors and administrators to implement best practices that enhance academic quality, promote operational excellence, and align program initiatives with institutional priorities. From overseeing academic reviews and curriculum management systems to improving administrative processes, Erin develops effective solutions that strengthen academic programs and support students, faculty, and staff.
Since joining SPS in 2021, Erin has made significant contributions to enhancing the student experience. In her previous role, which focused on graduate student support, she launched the SPS Academic Resource Center, providing a centralized hub for academic success resources across the School and the University. She also led the revitalization of the SPS Tutoring Program and the rebranding of the SPS Academic and Professional Development Grant—initiatives that expand student access to academic support and experiential learning opportunities.
A native of eastern Long Island, Erin holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University (SBU). She is a proud mentor through Stony Brook's Mentor Connect Program, supporting SBU students and alumni in their academic and professional development.
Outside of work, Erin enjoys reading with her book club, staying active at the gym, cheering on the New York Rangers, and spending time with her cat, Mango.
