Margaret Sullivan

Margaret Sullivan is The Washington Post’s media columnist. She is the former public editor of The New York Times, where she was the first woman in that role. A native of Lackawanna, New York, she began her career as a summer intern at The Buffalo News and became its first female editor. She was a member of the Pulitzer Prize board and was twice elected a director of the American Society of News Editors. Sullivan is a graduate of Georgetown University and has a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School. She lives in New York City.
