Dr. Amrit Ray is Global President of Research, Development and Medical at Pfizer Upjohn. Dr. Ray is a physician-researcher committed to advancing medical breakthroughs and championing access for patients. He leads an organization with deep scientific expertise in multiple disease areas, operations in over 100 countries, and end-to-end responsibility for all aspects of R&D.

Dr. Ray has over 20 years of R&D experience in multiple disease areas. Before joining Pfizer in 2017, Dr. Ray was the Chief Medical Officer for Johnson & Johnson’s global pharmaceuticals group. He has functional expertise in clinical development, safety and epidemiology, and medical affairs, and has championed the development of new medicines in Oncology, Immunology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Rare Diseases, Mental Health, Pain & Neurology, and Infectious Diseases.

By background, Dr. Ray earned both Immunology and Medical degrees from Edinburgh Medical School, and an MBA from Dartmouth College’s Tuck School. Following antibody bench research at Sir Joseph Lister Labs, obesity clinical research at the Mayo Clinic, and clinical training at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, he began his career serving as a hospital doctor delivering patient care in Britain's National Health Service. Dr. Ray’s contributions to healthcare have been recognized by patient advocates, governments, industry, and public health groups.
