Sid Malhotra

Speaker; Chief Investment Officer, Kactus Capital Management

Sid Malhotra is the Chief Investment Officer, an Investment Committee Member and a founding member at Kactus Capital, an institutional family office located in New York City. Sid is responsible for leading the firm’s investment efforts across public and private markets. He has over 18 years of investment management experience at several leading multi-billion dollar investment firms and over 15 years of experience in institutional family office investing. Prior to joining Kactus Capital in 2014, Sid was a Vice President at the Pritzker Group family office, which manages capital for Pritzker brothers Tony and J.B. Pritzker and their respective family foundations. At the Pritzker Group, Sid focused on portfolio management, investment manager selection, direct investments, co-investments and risk management. Prior to Pritzker Group, Sid worked in the Portfolio Management group at PAAMCO-KKR Prisma (Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company), a $9B leading institutional hedge fund of funds, where he oversaw over $1B in hedge fund investments including sourcing and analyzing hedge fund managers, due diligence, risk monitoring and portfolio management. Before joining PAAMCO, Sid was a credit analyst at Citadel, a $12B multi-strategy hedge fund, with a focus on investments across the capital structure. Prior to Citadel, Sid worked in the Transaction Advisory Services group at KPMG where he provided merger and acquisition advisory and financing services to middle market private equity funds, investment banks and commercial banks. He began his career in the audit group at KPMG. 

Sid currently serves on the Advisory Board for several leading private investment firms spanning private equity, venture capital and private credit. Sid is on the Family Office Advisory Board for Institutional Investor, SEO's (Sponsors for Educational Opportunities) Alternative Investments LPAC and an MBA Admissions Interviewer at his alma mater the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Sid is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society New York.

Sid holds an MBA in Analytic Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Masters in Professional Accounting from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas – Austin and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He has completed the Value Investing Executive Education program at Columbia Business School and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
