Scott Joachim

Scott Joachim is a corporate attorney and Co-Chair of the Global Private Equity Practice at Paul Hastings, an “American Lawyer Top 25” international law firm. His practice focuses on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, growth capital, venture capital and representations of emerging technology companies throughout their lifecycle.
Scott has worked on some of the most prominent deals in the technology industry over the last 25 years across Silicon Valley and Wall Street, including representations of: Twitch in connection with its $1 billion sale to Amazon; General Motors in connection with its $1.5 billion acquisition of Cruise Automation; Silver Lake Partners and Symantec in connection with the $4.7 billion acquisition of Blue Coat Systems; Responsys in its $1.5 billion sale to Oracle; Ray Kurzweill – renowned futurist and founder of the Singularity Institute – in connection with the sale of Patterns Inc. to Google; a consortium of 35 banks (including Bank of America, UBS and Barclays, among others) in their investment in blockchain company R3; a consortium of 15 financial services firms (including Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, among others) in their investment in Symphony
Communications; a consortium of banks (including Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, among others) in the sale of Simon Markets to iCap; and each of Accel-KKR, Goldman Sachs, Accel Partners, Declaration Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Technology Crossover Ventures and Citigroup in numerous M&A and financing transactions.
Previously, Scott founded the Private Equity and FinTech practices and founded the New York office of Fenwick & West. He began his career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where he worked on some of Silicon Valley’s most impactful deals including, among others, Google’s initial public offering.
Scott earned his Juris Doctor from Hastings Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stony Brook University. He previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Hastings Law School.
