Scott Forston

R. Scott Forston is a risk executive with over 25 years of experience. At S&P Global Ratings, he has responsibility for compliance in 22 jurisdictions ensuring consistency in the S&P Global approach across all regions and regulatory regimes.

Prior to this, Forston was at HSBC where he served as Senior Vice President of Compliance Risk. While there he worked to satisfy the stipulations of multiple consent orders from the Department of Justice, Federal Reserve Bank and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Forston joined American Express in 2009 and was brought in to facilitate the transition to new Bank Holding Company status obtained by the Company. His primary responsibility was to oversee all Board Audit Committees, establish and integrate Board Risk Committees and serve as the key liaison with the FRB, OCC, FDIC, and CFPB.

Prior to American Express, Forston spent 10 years at Bank of America in various roles. He served as Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Assessment. He liaised with regulatory agencies, reengineered Board and Management Committees as part of an implementation of the Enterprise Governance structure, established governance standards for use by the Company, conducted risk assessments, and led teams in the assessment of operational risk exposures for the bank, including operational loss data collection processes. He was also Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, covering mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, rating agency relations, executive communications, and strategic planning.

Forston currently serves as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank Faster Payment Task Force. He previously served as a Director on the Board of Trustees for the Global Associate of Risk Professionals (GARP). He studied at Brigham Young University, Pepperdine University, and Harvard University. He is fluent in Italian and is a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
