Ping Ma

Ping Ma is a Corporate Vice President and Actuary at New York Life Insurance Company, with more than 15 years of experience in the life insurance industry. Her career spans actuarial consulting, valuation, pricing, product development, and actuarial modeling. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

At New York Life, Ping currently focuses on actuarial model development and architecture, developing and enhancing enterprise-wide modeling capabilities across multiple life insurance and annuity products. Previously, she worked in Life Pricing, where she contributed to the pricing and development of several traditional life insurance products. Prior to joining New York Life, Ping spent six years with Deloitte Consulting, advising life insurance clients on valuation, financial reporting, and financial transformation initiatives.

Ping is an active contributor to the actuarial profession through the Society of Actuaries (SOA). Since 2020, she has served on fellowship-level examination committees as a question writer and grader and currently serves as Vice Chair for the SOA's Advanced Reinsurance examination committee. 

A proud graduate of Columbia University's Master of Science in Actuarial Science program, Ping is pleased to return to Columbia as a lecturer and share her industry experience with students in the program that helped prepare her for her own actuarial career. Drawing on her experience as both a practicing actuary and an SOA examination committee volunteer, she aims to help students connect academic concepts with real-world applications while developing the knowledge and skills needed to progress in the actuarial profession.

Outside of work, Ping is an avid international traveler and enjoys exploring new places, cultures, and cuisines with her family. When she's home, she enjoys baking, playing guitar, and spending time with her family and their dog.
