VP of Strategy and Business Development, LaLiga North America
Nicolás is a sports and media executive currently serving as VP of Strategy and Business Development of LaLiga North America, a joint venture between Relevent Sports, a multinational media, sports and entertainment group, and LaLiga, Spain’s top-flight soccer competition and professional association. LaLiga North America was founded in 2018 as a first-of-a-kind partnership featuring the world’s best soccer league with internationally recognized clubs and players that aims to cultivate soccer culture in the U.S. and drive the league’s growth in the region.
In his current position, Nicolás is responsible for leading the identification, development and launch of new partnerships, services and products within LaLiga North America target markets. This high-profile role reports directly to the CEO and have extensive interactions with the Executive Team.
Prior to joining LaLiga North America, Nicolas served in LaLiga headquarters (Madrid) from 2014 to 2018 and from 2016 was Head of LaLiga Global Network, a multicultural, international project composed of 50 people spread across 44 countries, the first endeavor of its kind at this scale in the sports industry. He launched this project in 2016 and was responsible for selecting and developing all talent. Once established, he managed the team and its budget in order to develop opportunities and projects as well as spearhead actions to promote LaLiga abroad. Since its inception, the Global Network has improved LaLiga’s international brand value and created commercial opportunities to increase media rights globally.
Nicolas holds a Master degree in Sports Management from Centro de Estudios Garrigues and a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
He also has completed numerous courses including Leading in the Age of Data: Analisis for Strategic Decisions course from Michigan Ross University and the REV Program: Idea to Market (I2M) from Stanford University.
Nicolás is a former Olympian, winning a silver medal in Taekwondo in London Olympic Games 2012 and has medaled in several international competitions including World Taekwondo Championships (silver and bronze) in 2009 and 2013, and European Championships (gold, silver, bronze) in 2005, 2008 and 2012.
