Michael Schwam-Baird, Ph.D.

Michael Schwam-Baird, Ph.D., is an associate professor of professional practice in the Political Analytics program. Before coming to Columbia, Dr. Schwam-Baird worked professionally in political analytics for seven years. Among other positions, he was the head of data science at Grow Progress, a Washington, D.C.–based political technology start-up. Dr. Schwam-Baird received his doctorate in political science at Columbia and wrote his dissertation on the motivations and behavior of political contributors. His research interests focus on campaign finance, lobbying, political persuasion, public opinion, and experiments.
