Mary Scott
Senior Associate Director, Career Services
Mary drives overall career education programming, student and alumni career advising, and career administration for the MS Sports Management program. Mary guides students and alumni as they cultivate their professional interests and goals. Mary's services provide career counseling, career programming, and creating and directing the logistics of workshops, panels, events, information sessions, and networking opportunities. As a member of the Columbia University Sports Management (CUSM) leadership team, Mary provides students with individual advising sessions, insight, and advice for career placement and advancement and will support business development efforts by engaging with recruiters and external constituents about the MS student population, playing a key role in sourcing new employer relationships. Mary markets the program to the industry, facilitates and evaluates career development, and ensures that students have a multitude of resources available to them and the opportunity to explore career options and develop career decision-making skills.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she played field hockey and captained the lacrosse team, Mary has held senior leadership positions at the NFL, Edelman Sports and Entertainment, and United Entertainment Group, where she served as the first-ever President of Global Integrated Communications from 2015 to 2021 before pursuing a career in academia. She has served as an Associate Professor of Strategic Communications in the Montclair State University School of Communication and Media as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Global Sports Business Master’s Degree Program at Rutgers University and has thrived in both teaching and advising students on career matters.
