Student, Information & Knowledge Strategy (IKNS); Program Analyst, USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture
Marshall Child is a current student in Columbia University’s M.S. in Information and Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) program, preparing to graduate this spring. He joined the program in Fall 2023 and has successfully balanced the rigorous curriculum while continuing to work full time in the public sector.
Marshall currently works as a Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, where he supports the development of a digital reporting system for land-grant universities across the U.S. His role focuses on stakeholder engagement, system design, and strategic planning to enhance data reporting and decision-making processes.
Prior to his work at USDA, Marshall served as a Communications Specialist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, leading strategic initiatives to promote the commercialization of federally funded technologies.
A U.S. Army veteran, Marshall holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communications from American University, with a minor in Psychology. He brings a unique perspective shaped by public service, a commitment to innovation, and a passion for making knowledge actionable in both public and private sectors.
