Laura Helmuth

Laura Helmuth is the editor in chief of Scientific American. She has previously been an editor for the Washington Post, National Geographic, Slate, and the Smithsonian and Science magazines. She is a past president of the National Association of Science Writers. She serves on the advisory boards of 500 Women Scientists, Spectrum, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s SciLine project. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s standing committee on science communication.
