Karin Okada
ANCoRS Project Management Officer | M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Karin Okada is a current student in the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (NECR) program at Columbia University and serves as the Project Management Officer of the student group Association for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (ANCoRS).
Karin holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Sophia University, Japan, where she gained in-depth knowledge in fields such as development studies and international relations. Being raised in Japan, she has also explored policy analysis on diplomatic and foreign policies in East Asia and the Indo-Pacific. In her professional journey, she worked as an intern at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she played a key role in supporting the organization of high-level missions and fostered diplomatic and social ties between Japan and African countries. She has developed a keen interest in diplomacy, which she aims to pursue in her future career path. She has also worked as a president of a student organization for 2 years helping Tanzanian preschools to build a safe environment for education.
Karin's commitment to resolving and preventing global conflicts has guided her academic and professional pursuits at the NECR program, and she is eager to apply her expertise to becoming a successful mediator in the field of conflict resolution.
