James Lauckhardt

Lecturer, Nonprofit Management; Senior Director of Strategy and Analysis, The College Board

nAs The College Board’s Senior Director, Strategy and Analysis within the Learning, Evaluation, and Research Division, Jim plans, coordinates, and executes the division’s strategy to ensure that data and evidence drive all products, decisions, and communications. Jim is responsible for developing and leading execution of a division-wide approach to proving a strategic business case for research, innovation, and new product development initiatives, ensuring that the division is organized and resourced in order to deliver on them. Prior to the College Board, Jim served as Managing Director of Organizational Learning & Impact at a national non-profit called iMentor. In that role, he served two primary functions: 1) Ensuring the highest quality measurement, analysis, and articulation of iMentor’s impact on students, mentors, schools, and communities for both internal and external audiences; and 2) Developing, revising, and stewarding adoption of the principles, processes, and structures of what it means to be a learning organization. Jim has worked in the positive youth development research and evaluation sector for over 10 years, holding a variety of positions in research, practice, and policy institutions devoted to improving the lives of young people. Jim is a member of the National College Access Network, The American Educational Research Association, The Society for Research in Child Development, The Society for Research in Adolescence, and The American Evaluation Association. Jim has also published in the Journal of Adolescence, The Journal of Technology Education, as well as the Handbook of Research on Civic Engagement in Youth. Jim received his B.A. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University. Jim lives in Long Island, NY with his wife and 3 children.
